Pregnancy
Dear Mother-To-Be
You’ll already have discovered that pregnancy is a state like
no other. It prompts an unending stream of questions. In my
long career as an obstetrician I’ve been privileged to look
after thousands of your predecessors. I’ve now decided to
distil what they’ve taught me into these four handbooks,
which it’s a pleasure for me to pass on to you. No differently
from other patients, pregnant women and their partners do
not always remember the questions they mean to ask until
after leaving the doctor’s office. On the other hand, there’s
so much new information to convey that not all the answers
can be assimilated on the spot. What has been lacking up till
now is a reference source that you can keep coming back to,
whether at home or on the move.
I’ve written this handbook specially for you. It covers medical
and legal questions relating to pregnancy. Please take the
time to read through it. Topics covered in the handbook will
come up again and again in your visits to the midwife or doctor. At these visits you’ll be able to sort out anything that’s still unclear and get expert answers to your remaining questions.
Hoping we can help you enjoy one of life’s great highlights,
With my best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!
